What began as a simple essay editing quickly revealed something much bigger. As I worked with students on their college application essays, I realized that many of them were being asked to tell meaningful stories about themselves before they had ever been guided to understand who they were, what mattered to them, or how their experiences connected to their future.

High school writing assignments rarely prepare students for the kind of thoughtful reflection that college essays require. A strong application essay isn’t just well written—it’s intentional. It helps admissions readers understand the student behind the transcript.

As parents began asking for help beyond essay editing, it became clear that families needed something deeper: a thoughtful process that helps students explore who they are, where they thrive, and how to make confident decisions about college and career paths.

A Guide for Students—and a Resource for Parents

Today I work with students and families to bring clarity to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming process.

Students often hear many voices telling them what they should do next. My role is to help them slow down, ask better questions, and discover the patterns that reveal their direction.

Parents often tell me that the college process looks completely different from when they applied. Application platforms have multiplied, expectations have shifted, and the pressure to make the “right” choice can feel intense.

I lead the process with encouragement and honest guidance while helping families establish a clear plan for moving forward together.

My Approach

My work combines more than twenty years of experience in education, coaching, and leadership development. I have spent much of my career helping people recognize their strengths, connect their experiences to future opportunities, and move forward with confidence.

If your student is looking to understand how best to approach their future, the Purpose & Path™ framework allows students to explore four key areas that shape meaningful direction:

Principles – what matters most to them
Personality – how they are wired
Preparation – the experiences that have shaped them
Place – the environments where they will thrive

When these elements come together, students begin to see the paths that fit both who they are and who they are becoming.

For families navigating the college application process, I provide step-by-step guidance that helps students move forward with clarity and confidence. From strategic college selection and application planning to essay development, recommendations, and final submission, students receive thoughtful support throughout each stage of the process so they can present strong, authentic applications that reflect both their accomplishments and their goals.

Education & Professional Background

My background blends education, psychology, and coaching.

I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Career Management and Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in English and Secondary Education. My career began in the classroom, where I taught advanced placement and college preparatory courses and worked closely with students preparing for college entrance exams and the transition to higher education.

Over time, I realized that one of the most powerful tools in helping students discover direction is reflection. When students pause to look back at their experiences—what they have enjoyed, what has challenged them, and where they have grown—they begin to see their story more clearly. That story often reveals clues about the paths they may want to explore next.

In both educational and coaching settings, I have spent years helping students and adults reflect on their experiences, identify patterns in their strengths, and connect those insights to future opportunities. This work is supported by training in several assessment tools, including Holland (RIASEC), Strong Interest Inventory (including MBTI), CliftonStrengths, Enneagram, and Working Genius, which provide helpful language for understanding how individuals think, work, and contribute.

Whether through structured assessments, guided conversations, or thoughtful reflection, my goal is to help students recognize the story that is already unfolding in their lives—and to use that story as a foundation for the next step of their journey.

Life Outside the Office

At home, I am a wife, the mom of two boys who are navigating their own educational paths, and—somewhat accidentally—part of a small farm restoration project. Our family is slowly restoring an 1880s barn and creating space for gatherings and community events.

Being a parent has only deepened my understanding of how important these transitional years are for both students and families.

A Thoughtful Path Forward

The goal of this work is not to pressure students into choosing a perfect career or a single predetermined path. Instead, it is to help them understand themselves well enough that they can move forward with clarity, curiosity, and confidence.

When students understand who they are and where they thrive, the next step becomes much easier to see.
